Gaukhar Mukhatzhanova is a research associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. She is currently working on future trends in nuclear proliferation. Her research interests include nonproliferation issues in the former Soviet Union and Iran’s nuclear program. A native of Kazakhstan, she is a graduate of the Monterey Institute of International Studies and has worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan and as an intern at the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs in New York.
