Lt. Gen. Robert G. Gard Jr. (Ret.)

A consultant on international security and education, Gard is chairman of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. He also is a member of the Bulletin‘s Science and Security Board. Previously, he served as president of the Monterey Institute of International Studies and as director of the Johns Hopkins University Bologna Center. During a military career that spanned three decades, he was an assistant to the secretary of defense and president of the National Defense University.
