Blythe McGarvie joins governing board

Blythe J. McGarvie, founder and president of Leadership for International Finance LLC (LIF), has joined the Governing Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, effective June 2008.

LIF specializes in providing global perspectives to U.S. and multinational companies, primarily in the consumer goods, financial services and knowledge-based industries. Prior to founding LIF, McGarvie was CFO at Hannaford, a Fortune 500 company, followed by service as CFO at BIC Group, a French company based in Paris.

"Blythe's international perspective and networks, coupled with her financial and publishing expertise, will be key to the Bulletin's increasing impact," said Cathryn Cronin Cranston, board chair and executive vice president of Mansueto Ventures. "As the Bulletin produces more and more information about nuclear weapons, bioterrorism, and climate change, Blythe's appointment is an exceptional match of talent and opportunity for us."

In October 2005, McGarvie published Fit In, Stand Out—Mastering the FISO Factor: The Key to Leadership Effectiveness in Business and Life to wide acclaim. She has been featured in The New York Times, CFO magazine, and Fast Company.

McGarvie is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She currently serves on the boards of Accenture, Pepsi Bottling Group, The Travelers Companies (Insurance), Viacom, and Wawa Inc.
